Prophets of Rage are in the studio working on their third album and we've got a sneak peak at what we can expect! The group released a series of new tracks off the album which you can listen to here: https://prophetofrage.bandcamp.com/album/rig-n-roll-gold-edition and the track listing is as follows: "Close Your Eyes When You Die" "Don't Step to Me (featuring Vic Mensa)" "KILLTHISFLAVOUR (featuring Joey Bada$$, Chuck D & DJ Lord) ?" The list also includes "1,2,3!" featuring Prodigy and "Bombtrack". "1,2,3!" might have been made specifically for the film Southpaw starring Jake Gyllenhaal. Now that the album is complete, the group are mapping out their next album release schedule. The first single from "Rig n' Roll" was released on November 19, 2015. It features Rage Against The Machine's guitar player Tom Morello and was performed live for the first time at the Madison Square Garden show at Prophets of Rage's debut live performance on September 14, 2015. The track is called "The Party Is Over" and the lyrics deal with the state of world affairs, particularly relating to American politics under The Bush administration and Obama administration following. The video for "The Party Is Over" was released on November 25, 2015 and depicts a corrupt and failing American media and government that is ignoring the problems faced by everyday Americans: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y6dwvSdsKTs On September 14, 2016, the group's first LP was nominated for a Grammy in the "Best Rock Album" category, but lost to "Tell Me I'm Pretty" by Cage The Elephant. At the beginning of December 2016, the group was reported to be working on a new album, and would perform at Madison Square Garden on December 30. However, they ended up cancelling this concert due to illness and personal issues.
The first installment of The Party Is Over tour was held between 2014 and 2015 as a European only event. A second installment was announced for November 2016 as a co-headliner with fellow Rock band "Bad Brains" for UK/European shows. It will be the first time Prophets play in Poland since 1995. The tour began on 29 November with Prophets of Rage performing six songs with "Bad Brains" at the Rock'n'Roll Hotel in Warsaw, Poland. The groups then embarked on their own headline UK/European dates. On January 21, 2017, Prophets announced that they would be playing at the Amalie Arena in Tampa, FL on February 13, 2017 for a North American tour. The group has been very active since their first studio album release as the tour will mark the first time that Prophets of Rage have ever played some of these cities. On January 20th it was reported that tickets for the Amalie Arena show sold out in less than one hour with tickets also selling out quickly for other venues on this tour including The Fillmore Detroit and Agora Theatre & Ballroom both in Cleveland.
